- Dinner with Sussana Harris (Monday, October 8, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM at Tandoor on Euclid) We at UK-AWM and the UK-GSC feel it is important to address the Mental Health issues among graduate students, and are hosting a dinner/ meet and greet with one of the speakers, Susanna Harris. Susanna is a current graduate student at UNC, the founder of PhDepression, and will be telling her story "Together Alone" on Monday, October 8 5:10-6:10pm in Memorial Hall. Directly after the talk the GSC and AWM will be taking Susanna out to dinner from 6:30-7:30pm followed by dessert / meet and greet at the Math House.

- Lunch and discussion with Dr. Christin Bibby (Wednesday, October 31, 12:00 PM at Limestone Pizza) Join us for an informal meet and greet session with Dr. Christin Bibby.
- Ask-A-Grad Student (Thursday,November 8, 4:30 PM in POT 745) Our distinguished "Ask a Grad Student" panel will consist of experienced graduate students Karthik Chandrasekhar, Joel Klipfel, Susanna Lange , and Ang Li. This is your opportunity to come ask questions about the UK math program and learning to be a mathematician in general. Questions could range from how to balance being a student and a teacher, how to study for prelims, how to find an advisor, what you should do next summer, etc. This event will be catered by Bourbon and Toulouse.
- 3rd AWM Member Meeting (Thursday, November 15, 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM in POT 745)
- Women in Math Trivia Night (Friday, November 16, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM in CB 331) Trivia night will consist of teams of up to 4 people answering a series of questions for a totally rad prize. That's right, the winning team will receive A PRIZE. Each question will highlight the role and/or historical contributions of women in mathematics, but don't worry...one need not be an expert nor a historian to compete. As an added bonus, snacks and drinks will be provided. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board outside the coffee room -- please feel free to sign up as a team, or as an individual (i.e. add your name to any Team block which has less than 4 names in it).
2017-2018
- Dinner and discussion with Dr. Abouzaid (Thursday, February 22, 6:30 PM at Mellow Mushroom) Join us for an informal meet and greet session with Dr. Erin Abouzaid. Dr. Abouzaid graduated with a Ph.D. in physics but is now working in finance and is willing to share her experiences and answer questions.
- AWM/Math Club Crafts Night (Thursday, November 9, 6:00 PM-7:30 PM in POT 745) Math Club and our chapter is putting together a craft night this Thursday targeting math majors, and we'd love to get some AWM members to participate and intermingle. Mark your calendars! We will be making parabolic curves with string, but there will also be games and dessert!
- Grad School/ REU Panel (Thursday, November 2, 5:00 PM in POT 745) An informational session and panel for the undergraduates that are interested in applying to graduate school / REU.
- Dinner and discussion with Dr. Sally Ellingson (Wednesday, November 1, 6:30 PM at Pies and Pints) Dr. Sally Ellingson is a computational scientist working at the intersection of computational biology and high-performance computing. She engages in mentoring and outreach, especially for underrepresented groups in computational sciences. The discussion during dinner will focus on underrepresented groups in mathematics.
- Ask-A-Grad Student (Monday, October 23, 5pm-6pm in POT 745) Our distinguished "Ask a Grad Student" panel will consist of experienced graduate students Jared Antrobus, Kyle Helfrich, Aida Maraj, and Julie Vega. This is your opportunity to come ask questions about the UK math program and learning to be a mathematician in general. - AWM TEA (Thursday, September 14, 1:00 PM -2:00 PM in POT 745:)Come enjoy some coffee, tea, and cookies provided by your AWM chapter!
- Breakout Games (Sunday, August 27) To kick off the start of the new school year, AWM will be hosting two Breakout games. (The Island Escape at 7:20 PM, The Mystery Manor at 7:40 PM)
2016-2017
- A social event for both undergraduate and graduate students with crafts and games. Pizza will be provided! (Wednesday, April 5th, 5:30pm-7:30pm in the Mathskeller (CB 063))
- AWM Tea. (Thursday, April 6th, 1:30pm-2:30pm in POT 745) In addition to AWM members, we are inviting graduate students from the chemistry department to this tea as a chance for both members of both departments to meet other women in STEM.
- Job Search Panel (Wednesday, April 19th, 3:00pm-4:00pm in POT 745) A Q&A session for graduate students to ask questions about the job search process, with a panel of current UK graduate students and postdocs who are moving on to jobs in industry and academia. Speaker list TBA.
